A New report from YouTrip has revealed Australians’ unwavering desire to travel, with 93% of survey respondents saying they still plan to venture overseas this year despite rising costs and global uncertainty.
Nearly two-thirds (63%) said they remained determined to travel, while 30% said they would change destinations instead of scrapping their plans altogether. Only 7% cancelled trips due to travel disruptions.
The survey, conducted between Apr and May 2026, also found that more than half of Aussies (51%) were willing to put off major purchases, such as buying a home or car, to fund an international trip.
Everyday spending was also on the chopping block for the sake of travel, with 76% willing to give up takeaway coffee, 69% considering cutting subscription services, and 66% dining out less frequently.
“Travel remains a clear priority for Australians, even in a more uncertain and cost‑sensitive environment,” said YouTrip CEO and co-founder Caecilia Chu.
