THE Federal Government has given the green light for the Brisbane Airport Master Plan 2026, which will see the hub invest more than $5 billion over the next five years alone.
Highlights of the future strategy include the construction of a new Terminal 3 that will be operational by the early 2030s in preparation for an anticipated 50 million passengers a year passing through its gates by 2046.
The location of T3 will be between the parallel runways to provide optimal airfield access and reduce aircraft taxi times.
Terminal 3 plans will then be incrementally expanded over the following decades to meet ongoing pax growth forecasts.
Brisbane Airport has predicted that in 20 years’ time, the facility will inject $11.5 billion into Australia’s economy and support over 50,000 jobs.
